In my last post I expressed my enthusiasm for wall decals. Now if you’re not into decals but love the look… grab some paint!

That’s what I did about a year and a half ago (before I ever heard of wall decals). I was living in Tanzania and was given the opportunity to “do something creative” in the studio I was working in. The room was large and white and a lot of people worked in it. I knew painting it all one colour would visually shrink the room, plus paint costs were high. As I was trying to come up with a solution I stumbled across a little spot of inspiration, in a place I didn’t expect… a friend’s facebook page. I just so happened to notice the background in a photo of her from a house party (I’ve cropped out the faces for privacy).

Immediately, this solution of moving from white into a solid, without a hard ugly vertical line, solved my paint volume problem plus the design I created enhances the height of the space, making the room feel larger. And it incorporated the company’s affinity for butterflies.

STEPS:
Create your own design, project it onto a wall (or freehand), trace with chalk, paint, as soon as the paint is dry gently wipe off the chalk lines with a clean damp cloth. If you have access to more cutting edge materials, like frisk, airbrush, etc. feel free to go at it. Inspired yet?
Remember, no matter how much paint you get in your hair, Inspireling, still thinks you’re pretty stellar.
