LEGOcrush

July 25, 2012 uncategorized

I have had an affinity for LEGO for as long as I can remember. I have distinct memories of being super excited to visit my cousins in Sarnia because they had tons of colourful bricks (they were a LEGO-loving family). My first LEGO set was a spaceship, model 1968. It’s the one toy that I still have to this day. Clearly my crush started with that spaceship…

and now, decades later, it continues as I keep seeing LEGO being used in creative, clever, and fun ways.

8-bit letterpress prints what a great idea! I want to try it one day.

A striking stair railing made of LEGO bricks in a unique apartment.

This pendant lamp comes with all the required pieces for you to build, assemble and hang. How fun!

I’d happily go to a meeting if this were the boardroom table.

You can even DIY your own USB case out of LEGO, though it’s a little tricky.

A fun surprise for your kids the next time they wash their hands. Just shove a few blocks into a soap dispenser filled with clear soap.

How endearing is this? Repairing the city of New York by filling cracks, potholes and the like with the little bricks.

And to round out this post, a surprise life-size LEGO forest popped up overnight in the small mining city of Broken Hill in the Australian outback.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this short departure into a world of colourful bricks, nostalgia, and ingenious ideas.

I  think I’m going to go play… err work.
