
There’s a hot new trend in interior design which I absolutely love. Colour Zoning (also referred to as Colour Blocking) is the intentional painting of blocks of colour within a room. It opens up a whole new way of using and defining colour in a space. It’s a great technique to add “punch” to a room without being overwhelming. Colour zoning can add definition, highlight interesting architectural elements, create a focal point, or function as artwork.

As I recently relocated my nest, I found myself thinking about my workspace and how it impacts my productivity, creativity and work-flow. This led to thoughts about how our workspaces, to a degree, reflect who we are. For instance mine would tell you that I really like teal, markers, asymmetry, textures and clean lines. What does your space say about you? Have you thought about it?

I’m back! I’m truly back! After a year and a half hiatus, I’m posting again. Here’s to a year of inspiration!
I realize the design trend I’m writing about today, has well, gone the way of the birds, but I’m still going to write about it. The Bird Silhouette trend, reached the height of it’s popularity probably about the time that I went on hiatus. The trend hasn’t entirely left, it has just morphed. Now the “bird” designs are more 2 and 3-D, they have a more arts & craft feel to them, and are popping up in colours of yellow, aqua and coral. But that’s a post for another time. Read more...
